Differentiation Between the Project Management Plan and Project Documents

The project management plan may be either summary level or detailed, and may be composed of one or more subsidiary plans.
Each of the subsidiary plans is detailed to the extent required by the specific project.

Once the project management plan is baselined, it may only be changed when a change request is generated and approved through the Perform Integrated Change Control process.
While the project management plan is one of the primary documents used to manage the project, other project documents are also used. These other documents are not part of the project management plan.

Table 4-1 is a representative list of the project management plan components and project documents.

Product Scope vs Project Scope

Product scope
The features and functions that characterize a product, service, or result; and/or

Project scope
The work performed to deliver a product, service, or result with the specified features and functions. The term project scope is sometimes viewed as including product scope.

假設有一天，接到一個建立Shopping Cart的生意，客戶要求Shopping Cart支持網上付款，多國語系，貨運管理。
取得requirement後，你將要設定Planning，取得Budget等等。
之後安排Designer和Programmer工作， 建立Schedule展開工作。
開發過程當中有Coding，Testing反覆進行，與客戶進行多次例會溝通。
最後工作完成，客戶滿意簽收。

在以上例子來說，客戶要求的 - "支持網上付款，多國語系，貨運管理" 就是features and functions，所以這部份是Product scope。
而之後由一開設定Planning到最後簽收(Closing)就是work performed，所以都視為Project scope。
